One of the most adaptable animals in the world, coyotes can survive and thrive by adjusting their breeding habits, diet and social dynamics to a variety of habitats.

As members of the genus Canis, coyotes are related to familiar animals such as wolves and domestic dogs. Depending on their subspecies, coyotes can vary in size from 20 to 50 pounds. Their fur also varies in color and texture.

Coyotes can often find their way into crawlspaces, underneath porches and patios and even into basements. They’ve also been known to find shelter under decks, sheds and outbuildings. Any structure that is elevated off the ground can serve as a perfect location for coyotes to raise a family.

Coyote pups are generally born in late April or May. If you hear strange barking or yipping sounds on your property, you may have some coyote pups on your hands.

Like other pests, when coyotes take up residence on your property, they bring problems with them. Coyotes are vectors for diseases such as rabies, distemper and mange. These diseases are communicable to both humans and pets. Make sure that your pets are properly vaccinated to ensure both your and their wellbeing.

Coyote feces and urine in structures can also contaminate insulation and soil. Whenever a coyote is discovered to have been inhabiting a structure, the area should be thoroughly cleaned to prevent the future spread of disease.

If you discover a coyote on your property, contact an animal control specialist. In many cases, trapping and removing a coyote is the necessary solution. At AAAC Wildlife Removal, we can guarantee that our professionals will not only thoroughly resolve the problems generated by coyote occupation, but they will do so in a humane way that respects the life of the animal.

Coyotes can also produce noxious smells. After coyotes are removed, it is important to deodorize the affected area so that other coyotes or pests will not be attracted to the location.

Coyotes like to die in strange places, and dead coyotes can be found in crawlspaces and even in basements. If a dead coyote is not promptly dealt with, the body can cause further damage to your building while attracting other pests. If you encounter a dead coyote on your property, contact a wildlife professional who can remove the body and then clean and deodorize the area.

If you need assistance with coyote control or removal, we are just a call away! The professionals at AAAC Wildlife Removal are your coyote control specialists.
